You heard how it all started, now it's time to hear how it ends. In this episode, you will learn what we've decided to be the best movie of the 80s! It could be anything, aside from Weekend At Bernie's. Then again, maybe it could be. Anything is possible, boppers. So, listen up as we hammer this out!
This week, we're doing something a little different, yet also familiar. We're returning to the brackets, but this time we're trying to figure out which is the GOAT movie of the 80s. We got a lot to go through as we tackle the first round and debate what decides to move forward. We also learn that Nick loves a movie more than any of us could have ever imagined.
This week we find ourselves basking in the pageantry of wrestling. At the heart of this movie is a man at odds with himself and his own duality. On the one hand, he loves wrestling but he also loves his religion. Sadly, his religion is against wrestling. This was a truly deep and reflective journey of self-discovery. So, listen up, boppers, and find out if Jack Black and Nacho Libre holds up!
We're down a man this week, but that won't stop us from bringing you the same level of unprofessionalism as usual! Speaking of which, maybe it's time we did something about that, and the only way we can think to do that would be to go Back To School. That's right boppers, we're watching Rodney Dangerfield get some respect and talking about a young Robert Downey, Jr. So join us as we find out if it holds up!
This week, we're tackling the collaboration between Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller as they teamed up to direct the adaptation of Frank Miller's Sin City. So join us as we talk about which stories we prefer. Marvel at us talking about the visuals and the cast! And, of course, find out if we think it holds up!
This week’s episode is brought to you by listener, Tim, who donated to our CHOC (children’s hospital of Orange County) Walk fundraiser. He really wanted us to watch Ichi The Killer so that he could hear our thoughts on the movie. So, here’s our thoughts on the movie. If you wanna pick a movie for us to watch, donate and let us know! Now, listen up, boppers, because here’s Ichi The Killer.
Summer is fully upon us, and with it comes baseball. So what better way to usher that in then with The Sandlot. Will this classic tale of a new kid making friends, then playing baseball, and then battling a giant dog hold up? You know how to find out, boppers!
This week, we're going somewhere where you won't need eyes, but you will need ears to hear us talk about it! Doctor Alan Grant and Morpheus are on a secret mission to figure out what happened to a missing space craft and then kooky shenanigans begin to take place. Will Event Horizon hold up? You'll just have to listen to find out!
This week we're going back to the 80s and the chaotic land of Wall Street, but we didn't watch that movie. We watched that other movie about the stock market, the one that spring boarded Eddie Murphy into stardom as he was Trading Places with Dan Aykroyd. Yes, that's right, boppers, we watched Trading Places! Will this retelling of the Prince and the Pauper hold up? There's only one way to find out!
The next 200 episodes begin here, boppers! To celebrate, we've updated our intro. But not only that, we took a look at one of LL Cool J's greatest performances. We watched a movie all about trying to find the cure for Alzheimer's Disease. Oh, and it's also about big, smart sharks and trying not to become the food. That's right, boppers, this week we watched Deep Blue Sea!
Here it is, boppers! 199 episodes in the making: our 200th episode! So, we're diving back into Arnold Schwarzenegger's filmography, as we do for all our milestone episodes. This time, we're venturing into Arney's softer side, as we discuss Kindergarten Cop. So strap in and listen up, boppers, to find out if this "family" comedy holds up!
Here it is, boppers! All month we've been working to figure out what our favorite movie is based on our May Madness brackets and a winner is decided today. But we're not the only ones here, because we're joined by The Obscure Gentlemen and 12 For A Penny as they both decide the winners of their own brackets, as well. Then we discuss the animated movie, Heavy Metal and its soundtrack.
You've heard our picks in the May Movie Madness brackets over the past few episodes, and now found out who makes it out of the semifinals, after this only 2 movies will be left standing to duke it out to become our champion! And then, join us as we hack the planet to become elite, because we're gonna be asking if Hackers holds up!
After all the crazy shenanigans from last week that we'll never be able to top again, we come back ready for battle once more as we continue our May Movie Madness brackets to decide the outcomes of round 3. We're joined this week by Michael, writer of episodes of Ben 10 and recurring guest on The Obscure Gentlemen Podcast as we spend some time discussing the exploits of Agents K & J as we ask if Men In Black holds up!
Due to unforeseen circumstances, this week's scheduled program is lost to the ages. Our sincerest apologies to our guest for that episode, Ben, and our apologies to you, the listener, for not getting to hear what I'm going to call our best episode ever. But feel free to listen to the special announcement above to hear updates on our May Movie Madness brackets and click the link to place your votes. We'll be back next week!
This week, we're starting something a little different for the month of May. All month long, we will be pitting some of our favorite movies in combat. But, we're not the only ones doing this, listen to all the shows in the Obscure Entertainment Entertainment Network as Obscure Gentlemen will be doing the same thing with cartoons and 12 For A Penny will be following suit, but with songs! Will your favorite movies move on and make the cut? Listen to find out, boppers!
Another big week is upon us, boppers! And this one's been 10 years in the making. The Infinity War looms over us, and to prepare, we've decided to go back to the beginning. The beginning of the MCU, that is. Before there were stones, before there was a Thanos, before there was an Avengers, there was one movie: Iron Man. So buckle up, boppers, as we're joined once again by the Editor In Chief of Obscure Entertainment, James, as we ask if Iron Man holds up!
This is a big week, boppers! This week, Action Comics, the magazine that introduced the world to the Man of Steel, will be releasing its thousandth issue. This is a big deal, boppers, so we figured what better way to celebrate this historic moment than to discuss the classic, Superman: The Movie! The movie that made us all believe that a man could fly. And to help us celebrate this momentous occasion, we're joined by Mr. Obscure Entertainment and friend of the show, James! So listen along as co-host Aaron (number one Superman fan this side of Bibbo Bibbowski) toasts us and makes you believe that a man can cry!
She packed our bags last night, preflight and all that stuff. Harland Williams drank Jim Carrey's pee, he introduced Ben Stiller to 7 Minute Abs, and now he's going to Mars! Travel back to 1997 for a tale as old as time, Ulysses. In which a man with a dream of one day going to space gets a chance to see it come true. This is one of Aaron's favorite comedies from his childhood, so let's see if it holds up, boppers!
My dearest boppers,
The recording has been hard without you around. We had to watch and discuss a movie about turn of the century in which three brothers all find themselves in love with the same woman whilst being raised by Anthony Hopkins. Brad Pitt fought a bear and times were tough, but perhaps things should have focuses more on the bootlegging storyline. But we have sworn to find out whether or not Legends of the Fall does hold up.
